Fifty-millisecond trains with 150-Hz pulses and 50-µA intensity were applied into the right side of medial medulla. Baseline mean and SD were calculated from the 50-ms prestimulation period. A, the stimulation onset; and B, the time when the depression of the EMG activity exceeded twice the baseline SD. The latencies of medullary-induced muscle-tone suppression were 8.8 ms in the left neck muscle, 12.1 ms in the right neck muscle, and 17.3 ms in both left and right hindlimb muscles. Mean, baseline mean EMG activity; 2SD, 2 times baseline SD; LHM and RHM, left and right hindlimb muscles, respectively.
