Fig. 3. Effect of electrical stimulation on muscle tone. Five-hundred-millisecond trains with varying intensities were applied into the pons. Subthreshold stimulation at 15 µA caused no change in muscle tone. A very small muscle-tone suppression was induced by 20 µA. Higher intensity stimulation produced a profound decrease in neck muscle tone.
