The Semel Institute and Department of Psychiatry is training the next generation of physicians and scientists who will bring their abilities to bear throughout California, the United States, and around the world. Our trainees come from the nation's top medical schools, colleges, and universities. Training is available from experts in the fields of psychiatry, psychology, neurobiology, neurology, neurosurgery, pediatrics, pharmacology, pathology, human culture, public policy, and human genetics. The Institute fosters collaborative research and education across departments at UCLA and our trainees enroll in a program within a particular department (or in an interdepartmental program) at the David Geffen School of Medicine and the other academic units of UCLA.
The Office of Continuing and Professional Education (OPCE) provides programs for life-long education of physicians, psychologists, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, therapists, and others, in the clinical neurosciences and the management of disorders of complex human behavior. This includes our weekly live webcasts of Semel Institute Grand Rounds and the Joint Seminars in Neuroscience, held in conjunction with the Brain Research Institute.
