Principal Investigator:

Jamie D. Feusner is the Director of the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Intensive Treatment Program and Assistant Professor-in-Residence in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. Dr. Feusner graduated with honors from UC San Diego with a major of Biochemistry and Cell Biology. He obtained his medical degree and completed his psychiatry residency training at UCLA, during which time he received several awards. He then completed a clinical psychopharmacology fellowship followed by an NIMH-funded psychobiology research fellowship where he received training in neuroimaging. He has published on body dysmorphic disorder, anxiety disorders and mood disorders and has lectured nationally and internationally on these topics. Dr. Feusner teaches psychiatry residents clinical pharmacotherapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy in the UCLA Anxiety Disorders Clinic. He is currently funded by the NIH and the Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation to study visual information processing in BDD. He has published the first fMRI study in BDD. (Brainmapping profile)

Susan Bookheimer, Ph D.
Dr. Susan Bookheimer is Clinical Neuropsychologist and Professor-in-Residence in the UCLA Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences and Department of Psychology. Dr. Bookheimer specializes in functional brain imaging with PET and functional MRI. Her work has focused on the organization of language and memory in the brain, in healthy adults and children and in neurologic conditions and developmental disorders.

Alexander Bystritsky MD, Ph.D.
Dr. Alexander Bystritsky is Director of the UCLA Anxiety Disorder Program and Professor-in Residence in Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. He is widely regarded as one of the world's leading experts in the treatment of anxiety disorders, including OCD. He has published clinically influencial research on OCD, panic disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. His current research involves developing novel treatments for anxiety.

Malin McKinley
Malin McKinley is currently a graduate student at the department of social welfare at UCLA. While completing her BA in pychology at UCLA she volunteered for three years with Dr. Feusner at the UCLA OCD intentsive treatment program. Her recent research experience before working on the BDD projects included conducting neurocognitive testing and fMRI scans with young adults in the prodromal phase of schizophrenia. Once Ms. McKinley has obtained her MSW degree she plans to work as a psychotherapist specializing in anxiety disorders such OCD and BDD.

Hayley Moller
Hayley Moller is currently a first year undergraduate student at UCLA, and is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. She has volunteered in the Sutter Health physical therapy clinic and in an HIV research laboratory at UCSF. She is considering pursuing a medical profession, and is very enthusiastic about BDD research.

Jennifer Townsend
For the past 5 years, Ms. Townsend have been working with Dr. Susan Bookheimer on all clinical fMRI scans for pre-surgical language and motor mapping in tumor, epilepsy and AVM patients. Her research experience has been primarily with Dr. Lori Altshuler in mood disorders, investigating possible neural dysfunction in Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorder. During the past three years with Dr. Jamie Feusner, she has extended her fMRI research into the visual and facial processing function and dysfunction in Body Dysmorphic Disorder
